Vehicle geometry configuration

Configures the measurements of the vehicle to allow the guidance system to function precisely.

Note: Measure the dimensions of the vehicle as accurately as possible. The recommended tolerance is +/- 5 cm.

To configure the vehicle geometry:

  1. Select: Vehicle / Geometry. Alternatively, the Vehicle Geometry screen is displayed automatically when a vehicle is created or selected.
  2. Select a vehicle dimension.

The dimensions required by the system will vary according to the type of vehicle selected.

  1. Enter or modify the dimensions as required and confirm.

The main measurements commonly used in the system are listed as follows:

  • Wheelbase: Distance from the centre of the front axle to the centre of the rear axle.
  • Implement towing point: Distance from the centre of the rear axle to the towing point.
  • GPS pilot: Offset to the left or right from the centreline of the axles to the GPS receiver. This is a positive number if the receiver is to the right of the middle of the axle and negative if the receiver is to the left.
  • GPS antenna: Horizontal distance between the receiver and the centre of the rear axle. The number is positive when the receiver is in front of the rear axle and negative if it is behind the rear axle.
  • Axle height: Ground height of axle.
  • GPS height: Height of the top of the GPS receiver from the ground.
  • Front hitch: Distance from the centre of the front axle to the front hitch position.
  • Track spacing: Applicable for tracked crawler vehicles only. This is the distance between the two tracks.
  • Articulation point: Applicable for articulated vehicles only. This is the distance between the rear axle and the vehicle articulation point.
