The Italian multinational SDF, technological partner of Kazakhstan for Farming 4.0
March 26, 2021
SDF, an Italian multinational headquartered in Treviglio (Bergamo), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tractors, harvesters and diesel engines, has been chosen as technological partner for the development of farming mechanisation in Kazakhstan, an objective that is an integral part of the national industrialisation plan that the Government and the Minister for the Development of Industry and Infrastructures are seeking to implement.
Under the terms of the agreement, signed today in Kostanay, in the north of Kazakhstan, before the Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin, SDF will supply its know-how in technological innovation and expertise developed in the production of high-power tractors and combine harvesters with the brand name Deutz-Fahr, to Agromash Holding, the main manufacturing hub for agricultural machinery in Kazakhstan, accompanying the company in a multi-year “Made with Italy” localisation process.
SDF, chosen from a list of candidates featuring major international players in the sector, was selected for its technological vocation, developed thanks to continual investments in R&D focused on sustainable agriculture and precision farming, which make the company a driver of digital transformation in the farming sector worldwide, and as a result of the solid international presence of the Bergamo-based multinational, which has eight production plants in Europe and Asia, 12 sales branches and 155 importers worldwide.
“We are proud to partner Agromash in this important international collaboration agreement”, said Lodovico Bussolati, CEO of SDF - “In almost a century in business, research for technological innovation has been the driver of our growth, and having the opportunity to contribute, with our skills, to the mechanisation of agriculture in the principal economic power of Central Asia is an acknowledgement of the hard work we put in every day to helping world agriculture grow in an increasingly sustainable direction”.
The partnership, facilitated by the mediation and support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Rome and the Italian Embassy in Nur-Sultan, is part of SDF’s strategic process of international expansion, opening the door to one of the leading economic powers in Central Asia, with a strong focus on farming (the sector employs almost a quarter of the active population), and indicated by the FAO as one of the five countries with greatest potential for development, considering that in 2020, agricultural production increased by 5.6%, topping €12 billion, and investments in the sector grew by 15%.
