- Work areas: 4,000 m2 office building, multi-purpose centre, changing rooms, infirmary, training area and green areas
Treviglio (BG), 12 September 2022 - The resolution on the agreement signed by SDF, an Italian multinational company and one of the world's leading manufacturers of tractors, harvesting machinery and diesel engines, and the Municipality of Treviglio to start work on the 'SAME Campus', a redevelopment project designed to increase the wellbeing of workers and improve the functionality and accessibility of the existing facility in Treviglio, as well as the town's road system, improving the urban and landscape elements already present in the area by creating new green spaces, was published today.
Designed by Studio Valle Architetti Associati, the 'SAME Campus' project envisages flexible and phased planning with works starting in November 2022, while keeping the plant operational, and ending in 2027, with a total investment of EUR 25 million.
"In 2018, the Treviglio plant underwent major modernisation of the production lines, carried out according to the highest standards of technology, safety and efficiency," comments Lodovico Bussolati, CEO of SDF. "Our investment plan now continues with the redevelopment of offices and shared company spaces, seeking to improve our employees' wellbeing and quality of working life."
The first areas of work will see the building of an 850-space car park (200 more than the current ones), the relocation of the staff entrance to Via Isser, and the creation of a roundabout between Viale Cassani, Via Magenta and Via Isser. These activities will immediately free up daily traffic on Viale Francesco Cassani.
Constructing a cycle path to promote alternative and sustainable micro-mobility will further accentuate the positive effects on Treviglio's road system.
"We are delighted with this project, which once again testifies to SDF's willingness to make a significant investment in our area, with all the advantages that this represents in terms of jobs, related activities, research and prestige," says the Mayor of Treviglio Juri Imeri. "The project will also positively impact local people's quality of life because the urban planning choices linked to 'SAME Campus' will improve the road network in a key area, the entrance to Treviglio, privileging green spaces and improving cycle and pedestrian connections.
Besides the positive impact on Treviglio's mobility, the 'SAME Campus’ project consists of many planned works. They include constructing a 4,000-square-metre building on Viale Cassani, directly connected to the production plant and equipped with a 400-seat multi-purpose hall, creating a sizeable porticoed pedestrian green square overlooked by two new buildings used as changing rooms and a modern infirmary consisting of several outpatient clinics for the medical service. In addition, the Academy - a technical training centre - will be extended. Finally, the interiors of the historic building that houses the offices of the Management and the SAME Foundation will be redeveloped.
