The event organised by Riso Gallo turned the spotlight onto the profound link between agriculture, digitalisation and sustainability in the experience of the Treviglio-based multinational tractor producer.
Treviglio (BG), March 2nd 2023 - SDF, the Italian multinational headquartered in Treviglio (BG) and a global leader in the construction of tractors, harvester machines and diesel engines, is one of the key participants in “Il riso che sostiene (Sustaining rice)”, the event dedicated to sustainable agriculture organised by Riso Gallo.
The SDF group's contribution to the event, presented by Paolo Cesana, Innovation and Digital Products Group R&D & Quality Engineer, centred around the group's vision concerning the research and development of solutions for sustainable, intelligent, precision agriculture, such as the acquisition and management of agronomic data in a digital, connected ecosystem, autonomous driving systems and the introduction of electrification.
Throughout its almost century-long history, SDF has been a driving force for the mechanisation of farming and for the digital transformation of agriculture, and now produces intelligent tractors which acquire data directly in the field and share this data in real time to increase production efficiency and respond to both new environmental requirements and the operational needs of farmers.
Technological innovation has always been at the core of the group's strategy and has been sustained over the years with constant investment in R&D, which has translated into the development of innovative Smart Farming services which, through advanced artificial intelligence and cloud functions, assist the farmer in every activity carried out with the tractor: from monitoring tractor usage and the conscientious use of water resources and fertiliser in the field, to providing the farmer with strategic suggestions for managing their business more efficiently based on the predictive capabilities of the software.
Cesana's address also touched on emissions, with considerations on the evolution of Stage V emissions regulations, and the group's vision of the future scenarios which changes in technology, such as the advent of autonomous machines, will bring to the agricultural sector.
SDF has already made a head start and consolidated its lead in this race towards the future and agriculture 4.0 with the acquisition in July 2022 of a majority shareholding in VitiBot, a French company specialised in robotics for winemaking, which develops and produces 100% electric, autonomous equipment for farming applications.
SDF's participation in “Il riso che sostiene” also included a presentation of the 6135 C TTV tractor by DEUTZ-FAHR, the German brand specialised in high power tractors and agricultural machinery and the embodiment of the technological excellence of the group.
